Hey guys. Not sure if many remember my post about a couple weks back abdout tint or re-tinting the windows on ZSPEED.Here's what happened. I dropped the car @ mechanics, they were gonna fix the idle problem. After giving them the keys I told them not to shut the door with the keys in the car. ( Alarm has auto-arming ). They said "Sure no prob. we get cars like that all the time in here, we know what to do". Well he pulls the Z into the garage and locks em in there. My spare key is 150 miles south @ my other place. They tell me they have the tools and will get it out. I don't here back from them until 2 weeks later. They tell me, when they tried to unlock the door they somehow scratched the glass, and replaced the glass for me. Here's the crappy part. Actually 2 crappys part. The window that they scratched and replaced had a custom tint on it. And the window they replaced it with had no tint. And..... the glass is a differant color. It has a beige/tan tint in the glass. When all the other windows (before I had them tinted) had a slight blue tint in the glass. So not only did the break the dirvers window. But they replaced it with one that was the wrong color. I understand if the mechanic says how were we to know what color the glass is, when the other windows are tinted.... blah blah blah.. He then tells me we can leave it untited. They can buy some OTC tint and try to match best they can. Or they can take the car to a tint shop, have the previous tint on all the windows removed and retint the entire car so it'll match. I went with the last option and re-tinted the entire car. The mechanic said he would knock off $100, and I would have to pay the tint. Some might not agree with me butI said ok. So I get the car back from them, and the shop re-tinted the windows @ this time. However.... On the drivers window there is a huge peice of grease or dirt in between the drivers window and tint. And on the 2 rear driver and passenger window there are 2 huge air bubbles coming up. I have to keep the rear pass/drivers air bubbles covered with a bumper stick, so you cant see the air bubble. And when you look out from the inside even though the window is tinted it's obvious the drivers glass doesnt match. I could leave it. But this cost me $425. ( and no this isn't a debate about cost of tinting etc... so please dont reply on $ ). But if I get pulled over and ask to remove my tint I'll have one window that doesnt match, and in the mean time I have 2 air bubbles and a grease spot, and a window that doesnt match. I'm going to contact the shop and tint shop sometime this week. Any advice on how I should discuss this with them would be appreciated. I'm not gona go in there pissed balls to the wall demanding a better job or I'll sue. Here's the best part. They didnt tell me the window wasnt the right color untill they re-tinted all the glass. Youd think once they removed all the previous tint and noticed the new window didnt match they would get the right window or call me. But they didn't. Oh yeah... both shops are 70 miles away. Sorry for the long post. But advice is needed.
